Pokerstars VIP levels, how much they are worth

I just noticed on the Pokerstars website they have now done a breakdown of how much each VIP level is worth.
This post is mostly aimed at none poker players who read this blog and probably dont realise what i am talking about when i say "Silverstar" or "Goldstar" etc etc

In the picture below the right hand column shows how much you earn in bonus/FPP value if you acheive that status each month/year.  In laymans terms if you play a certain amount of hands of poker and breakeven in profit at the tables you will earn.............($$$$  see below)

So when you hear me say there are players who breakeven at poker and still earn $130,000 per year, now you know how.

  2. Does the amount of points depend on how well you play or just the amount of hands, is it possible to be shit and just play thousands of hands and accrue these points?

  3. just the amount of hands, it is irrelevant how you do at the tables. Though obviously you want to be at least breakeven at the tables so all your bonus' are profit.

i.e if you earned $130k in bonus' but lost $150k at the tables it would be pointless wouldnt it.

so yeah you could play shit and just break even or be a marginal loser and you would be fine lol. Though you have to play at a fairly high level and be mass-multi tabling for about 40+ hours per week all year to hit Supernova elite, so people who go for that have worked hard.

are you 100% fucking sure that it is ONLY the amount of hands you play ??
i thought it was tied into the rake generated ?

  5. Can confirm it's the number of hands that will get u SNE and $130,000 in a year

U need around 2,500,000 hands at NL200 or 3,500,000 at NL100 to make supernova elite

Its hard work but doable. However If u took any Joe off the street who worked hard and taught him the basics he would most likely lose $200k+ playing against the hardcore players that live at those levels on pokerstars

You also need a special mental strentgh to mass table for hours on end

Last year only 300 people made SNE. I bet stars has more than a million active players, so the %age is tiny

  6. The idea of having to be a break even player makes the goal sound trivial. However, break-even should never be confused with average.
