HOLIDAY REPORT: bluffed by & slumming it with a Worzel!!

                                  The gates to Austwitz , i mean our holiday home!!

We got back from our holiday to Somerset on Friday, which was a day earlier than originally planned as everyone had had enough. To be honest we were totally bluffed by the website and thought we were going to a luxury cottage on a farm with its own separate garden etc etc.  Here is the site which advertises the luxury farm cottages but tbh there wasn't any luxury.  Reading the website it makes out that the cottages are set slightly away from the main farm and that each one has its own private garden......yeah right.

The video below which was taken about half an hour after we had arrived sums up our first impressions. Mrs R and the mother-in-law had gone shopping and left myself and "Anti-social" (the father in-law) to have a look round!!

The family who were booked into the cottage next door only lasted three days before making their excuses and going home, but we slummed it.  The wildlife was good though and the boy R thoroughly enjoyed himself walking round the fishing lake and feeding the chickens.  We christened the farmer who owned the place as "WORZEL" which amused us all during the week. To be honest i think Anti-social who himself is a wildlife fanatic changed sides and became quite fond of Worzel towards the end of the week.

The place didn't even have a bath, the boy had to make do with a laundry bin to get washed, with the help of the mother-in-law..............it was my turn for a bath next!!!!

Like i say the grounds,scenery and wildlife were ok and there were various webcams scattered about the farm that film live feeds of badgers etc for the website (which we sadly have watched since returning home).  Anti-social insisted i went badger watching with him one evening so i filmed the proceedings and even managed to capture Worzel on video. The video was originally quite long so i have cut it into two shorter parts so to only capture the funniest moments lol.
 

We stayed and slummed it out for six days and  i suppose if you turned a blind eye to all the chicken shit and the layers of dust in the cottage it wasn't too bad. As the week went on though we kept discovering how much of a con the website actually was, even the washing machine broke after 3 days!!. We had days out to nearby Minehead, Barnstaple and Cheddar Gorge which were also ok.
